Woman in 30s Jailed for False Rape Claim, Legal Penalties Heightened

A woman falsely accused her father of rape after he denied her money, resulting in a prison sentence.

On the 1st, the Uijeongbu District Court's Namyangju Branch, led by Judge Choi Chi-bong, sentenced a woman, referred to as A, to 10 months in prison for defamation, business obstruction, and insult.

A was tried for posting 11 defamatory messages online against her father, B, claiming familial sexual abuse.

She falsely alleged ongoing sexual assaults by B since she was four, a settlement of 30 million won, and called for severe punishment.

A exposed B’s name and business, causing him operational issues.

She also falsely posted about B's remarriage to a woman, C, amid affair allegations.

A sued B for damages in 2021 but lacked evidence of any illegal conduct.

A claimed truthfulness in court, but the lawsuit outcome and lack of evidence led the court to dismiss her claims.

The court deemed A's claims false, highlighting financial support from B and the timing of her accusations after monetary refusal for a cafe venture.

The court noted her dissatisfaction over denied funds led to false information about B, irreparably damaging reputations.

The sentencing considered her reoffending risk, continued similar posts, and the victims' demand for severe punishment.
